DISABILITY ACCESS

Caer Llan is located on a terraced hillside. Whilst beautiful, quiet and private some outdoor garden areas are steeply sloped with rugged paths and can be challenging even for those with full mobility and good eyesight. We have, however, taken steps to ensure that all those parts of the property to which visitors require regular communal access can be reached by wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility.

In addition to the steeply sloped main visitor car park with 25 spaces, we have spaces for a further 15 vehicles on the level ground right outside the main house at Caer Llan. One of these spaces is a dedicated ‘blue card’ parking place and is situated immediately adjacent to the front door. More spaces can be reserved on request.

There is suitable level wheelchair access from this parking area into the communal areas of the Main house which contain bar, lounges, function rooms and toilets and also out to the patios and back garden. There is a dedicated unisex wheel chair friendly toilet and washroom cubicle within the washroom complex in the bar area. As with any other crowded area, It should be noted that the biggest obstacle with regard to wheel chairs users will be moving between the other people who are attending the same event. People are generally very accommodating and our own staff are happy to assist where necessary.

In addition to the 9 bedrooms upstairs in the main house (no lift sorry), there are 7 ground floor bedrooms in the Berm House annex, all of which offer unrestricted access to the Main house parking and communal areas. The first bedroom is specially equipped with bathroom/toilet facilities for the convenience and safety of those with disabilities.

In conjunction with our fire, health and safety and eco policy, corridors are automatically lit at night time by movement sensors as required. Outdoor areas immediately around the house are similarly illuminated with movement sensors when the main external lights are off.

Assistance dogs are welcome and water can be provided at various locations, however, as Caer Llan is only available to pre-booked groups we do not currently provide assistance in Braille.

Mobile phone signal strength varies from inconsistent to poor within the main house dependent on service provider but a good signal is usually available outdoors. We do have a payphone on site. All guest areas and bedrooms have free of charge, easy to use WiFi access to our high speed fibre internet.

Website accessibility: We have taken care to ensure our website is accessible to those with visual disabilities and conforms to W3C Priority 2 (Level AA) guidelines the requirements of the UK’s Disability Discrimination Act.
