DISABILITY ACCESS

Accessibility at Caer Llan

Caer Llan is set on a beautiful terraced hillside in the heart of the Wye Valley. While the location offers peace, privacy, and stunning views, some of the outdoor garden areas are naturally sloped and have uneven paths, which can be challenging for guests with limited mobility.

We’ve taken care, however, to make all the main areas of the property — those used for weddings, events, and communal gatherings — accessible to wheelchair users and guests with reduced mobility.

Parking & Entry

In addition to our main visitor car park (with 25 spaces), we provide level parking for a further 15 vehicles directly outside the main house. One of these is a designated blue badge space, located right beside the front door, and additional level spaces can be reserved on request.

There is step-free access from this area into the main communal spaces — including the bar, lounges, function rooms, and toilets — as well as out onto the patios and back garden. A dedicated unisex, wheelchair-accessible toilet and washroom are located in the bar area.

Please note that, as with any busy venue, movement through crowded spaces may occasionally be the biggest obstacle for wheelchair users. Our staff are always happy to assist wherever needed.

Accessible Accommodation

Alongside the nine bedrooms in the main house (which is unfortunately not serviced by a lift), the Berm House offers seven spacious, ground-floor en-suite bedrooms. All have level access to the main house, parking, and communal areas. One of these bedrooms includes an adapted wet room and accessible facilities designed for the safety and comfort of guests with disabilities.

Lighting & Assistance

For added safety and convenience, all corridors are fitted with motion-sensor lighting at night, and outdoor areas close to the house are automatically illuminated when in use.

Assistance dogs are welcome, and water can be provided at several locations. As Caer Llan is available to pre-booked groups only, we do not currently provide Braille materials.

Communication & Connectivity

Mobile phone reception varies depending on network provider, but a reliable signal is generally available outdoors. We have free high-speed WiFi available in all guest areas and bedrooms.
