We're incredibly lucky to be able to call this beautiful place our family home and we'd like to invite you to share it with us. Some of you may know of Caer Llan as a thriving field studies centre (with impeccable eco-credentials) created by Jake's father Peter, more recent visitors have witnessed the emergance of a versatile country house venue. We have spent the last few years diversifying, developing and refurbishing the main house, the award-winning Berm House and the gardens as a venue for family and group celebrations; for weddings (we have a licence for civil ceremonies); and for conferences. In doing so we've also committed to keep Caer Llan informal, homely and relaxed without ever compromising the high standards we set ourselves for quality, personal service and making your stay special in every way.
Whilst we can't find a direct equivalent in Welsh of the warm Hispanic greeting ‘Mi casa es su casa’ (My house is your home) this is the sentiment we'll offer you when we welcome you to Caer Llan. There's lots of information on this website but feel free to contact us if you want to know more.

Caer Llan is a private country house (built around the turn of the 18/19th centuries) situated 4 miles to the south-west of the historic town of Monmouth at the head of the beautiful Wye Valley, with quick and easy access to the M4 and M50 motorways. Set on a secluded hillside in 25 acres of garden, fields and woodlands, access is via a private drive and the house and terraces enjoy stunning views over the rolling countryside of the Vale of Usk towards the distant Welsh mountains. The countryside around Caer Llan is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
At Caer Llan we offer family accommodation and hospitality for up to 50 house-guests with capacity for up to 120 visitors in a safe, homely and relaxed environment, and we are committed to providing you with a high standard of customer care. All bookings are offered exclusive use of the entire venue – house, gardens and grounds!
Established in 1969, Caer Llan is privately owned and run by the family partnership of Peter, Jake and Vicky Carpenter aided by a team of loyal and dedicated staff. Visitors find it surprisingly difficult to describe Caer Llan in a few well-chosen words and everyone seems to take away different memories. For some these are of the house, the gardens with their stunning views and the delightful wooded surroundings; others remember the relaxed, informal atmosphere of a spacious, elegant family home. Those who visit though never forget their stay with many returning time after time.
